KC GLAMOUR IS COMING IN DECEMBER TO THE MIDTOWN GALLERY!

In association with Vulcan's Forge and Aquarius Bookstore, K.C. Glamour - Burlesque in The City of Fountains will be presented through the month of December with the official reception to be held at 7 PM on December 9th, 2011 at the MidTown Gallery.

K. C. Glamour is a show dedicated to bringing attention to the unique vision and style of Kansas City's burlesque scene. It features only Kansas City-based performers performing in Kansas City venues.

Kansas City-style burlesque is a unique synthesis of several different styles of American burlesque. In keeping with its central location in the United States, the Kansas City style meshes the grit and humor of New York Style burlesque with the theatricality of Chicago-style burlesque and glitz and flash of West Coast burlesque. The result is a form of burlesque which is unique to Kansas City and its performers.

Over the last four years, the artist has documented Kansas City performers and watched the evolution of the performance style as well as the individual artists who have contributed to it. He is pleased to be able to present a selection of photographs of some of the most prominent players in the Kansas City burlesque scene at the performances that have made them signifigant influences both at home and abroad.

Many thanks are due to various performers and troupes, including the Kansas City Society of Burlesque, Bee's Knees Burlesque, Burlesque Downtown Underground, Kansas City Cabaret, Stella Blue and Eartha Delights.
